Job summary

Flexible People in Barnsley is recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers for ongoing work in a well-established logistics operation. The role includes a variety of driving assignments such as store deliveries, RDCs, warehouses, and trunking between sites.

Shifts are Day, early morning with varied start times, typically 8–10 hours, five days out of seven. Pay rates are £18 per hour on weekdays, £22 on Saturdays and £24 on Sundays (holiday pay included).

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC (DCPC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good understanding of drivers hours and WTD regulations.

Responsibilities

• Store deliveries to stores and RDCs.
• Deliveries to warehouses and distribution centres.
• Trunking between sites and general haulage.
• Drop & swap work and related driving tasks.
• Support wider national logistics network when needed.

Job description

We are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers to join a well-established and growing logistics operation based in Barnsley.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 1 drivers looking for ongoing work, competitive pay rates and a variety of driving assignments.

Pay Rates

• Weekday Day Shifts: £18 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Saturday Day Shifts: £22 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Sunday Day Shifts: £24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

The Role

The role involves driving articulated vehicles (Class 1 / C+E), completing a variety of deliveries and collections, including:

• Store deliveries
• RDCs and distribution centres
• Warehouse deliveries
• General haulage
• Trunking between sites
• Drop & swap work

Class 1 Drivers may also be required to support the wider national logistics network when needed.

Shift Details:

• Day shifts
• Early morning and varied start times
• Any 5 days out of 7
• Shifts typically lasting 8-10 hours
• Ongoing work available

The role involves long-distance driving Class 1 HGV vehicles, trunking between sites and deliveries to major distribution centres, stores and warehouses.

Class 1 Drivers must comply with all drivers' hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations and complete full vehicle safety checks before starting their journeys.

Requirements for a Class 1 Driver:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

• A valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC (DCPC)
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• A good understanding of drivers' hours and WTD legislation
• The ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctly
• A strong commitment to health and safety procedures
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
• Minimum 6 months experience

Driving Licence Requirements:

• Maximum of 6 points on your driving licence
• No DD, DR or NI convictions
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence
