Job summary

Flexible People is recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers for a well-established logistics operation in Barnsley. The role involves store deliveries, RDCs, warehouse runs and trunking between sites with occasional long-distance work.

Shifts are day-based, typically 8–10 hours, 5 days out of 7. Competitive hourly rates apply: £18 on weekdays, £22 Saturdays, £24 Sundays, with holiday pay included.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Understanding of drivers’ hours and WTD regulations.
• Ability to complete vehicle safety checks and report defects.
• Good communication and professional attitude; minimum 6 months experience.

Responsibilities

• Store deliveries to distribution centres and stores.
• RDCs and warehouse deliveries.
• General haulage and trunking between sites.
• Drop & swap work as required.
• Support wider national logistics network when needed.

We are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Day Drivers to join a well-established and growing logistics operation based in Barnsley.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 1 drivers looking for ongoing work, competitive pay rates and a variety of driving assignments.

Pay Rates

• Weekday Day Shifts: £18 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Saturday Day Shifts: £22 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
• Sunday Day Shifts: £24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

The Role

The role involves driving articulated vehicles (Class 1 / C+E), completing a variety of deliveries and collections, including:

• Store deliveries
• RDCs and distribution centres
• Warehouse deliveries
• General haulage
• Trunking between sites
• Drop & swap work

Class 1 Drivers may also be required to support the wider national logistics network when needed.

Shift Details:

• Day shifts
• Early morning and varied start times
• Any 5 days out of 7
• Shifts typically lasting 8–10 hours
• Ongoing work available

The role involves long-distance driving Class 1 HGV vehicles, trunking between sites and deliveries to major distribution centres, stores and warehouses.

Class 1 Drivers must comply with all drivers’ hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations and complete full vehicle safety checks before starting their journeys.

Requirements for a Class 1 Driver:

• A valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC (DCPC)
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• A good understanding of drivers’ hours and WTD legislation
• The ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctlyA strong commitment to health and safety procedures
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
• Minimum 6 months experience

Driving Licence Requirements:

• Maximum of 6 points on your driving licence
• No DD, DR or NI convictions
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence
