Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is recruiting for a trunking driver role across the UK, including the Caldicot area.

You will operate a refrigerated box trailer for ad-hoc out-and-back runs to major customer sites, ensuring loads are loaded and secured safely.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid UK Class 1 CE licence and DCPC card.
• Digital Tachograph Driver Card is required.
• Experience delivering loads to client sites is a plus.
• Excellent customer service and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carry out ad-hoc out-and-back driving across the UK using refrigerated trailer.
• Load and secure goods with bars, straps, nets, and other devices.
• Use company phone to perform daily vehicle safety inspections.
• Maintain regular contact with transport team and provide progress updates.
• Attend training sessions to stay current with industry standards.

Job description

• Carry out ad-hoc out and back driving work across the UK, collecting and delivering from all our major customer sites, using but not limited to a refrigerated box trailer.
• Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage. Use bars, straps, nets, and other securing devices as needed.
• Use your company-issued phone to carry out thorough daily vehicle safety inspections, helping us maintain the highest standards of road safety and reliability.
• Stay in regular contact with our transport team, providing updates on your progress to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.
• Take part in regular training sessions to keep your skills sharp and stay up to date with the latest industry standards and best practices.

Rota is flexible and offered on a weekly basis, with drivers contacted in advance to confirm availability. This is a zero/casual hours arrangement to support peak periods, annual leave and unplanned absences.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to client sites is advantageous.
• Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Confident, polite, and a team player.
• Good geographical knowledge.

Competitive Salary: Hourly rate of £17.62ph. This includes holiday pay. Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at £21.62ph. You will receive an extra £2.75ph for any hours worked between 21:00pm and 04:00am
