Job summary

Claims Recruitment Services is recruiting a Claims Handler - Motor & Third Party Property Damage (TPPD) for a leading UK insurer.

You will handle end-to-end motor and third-party property damage claims, assess policy coverage, manage fraud risk and coordinate with solicitors, experts and brokers.

The role spans Colchester/Essex and York/Leeds locations with a service-driven approach and opportunities to progress within a specialist team.

Qualifications

• Experience in handling Motor Claims with emphasis on policy coverage.
• Experience in Third Party Property Damage (TPPD) claims under PL policies is advantageous.
• Understanding of pre-action protocols and civil litigation.
• Ability to apply policy wording to assess coverage/liability.
• Experience working with solicitors and external experts.

Responsibilities

• Taking referrals on motor policy coverage and strategy.
• Managing a portfolio of third party property damage claims up to £100k.
• Demonstrating customer focus with strong stakeholder engagement.
• Managing claims from first notification to conclusion, including pre-litigation to settlement.
• Reviewing and confirming policy coverage position.
• Setting claim strategy and involving in-house or external resources as needed.
• Instructing and managing law firms and experts with costs management.
• Liaising with clients, brokers, claimants and representatives, including mediations and court appearances.
• Identifying fraudulent claims and opportunities for recovery with clear evidence of strategy.
• Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Taking referrals from delegated authority partners on coverage and strategy.
• Pursuing professional qualifications (CII, CILEx or equivalent).

Job description

We are recruiting for a Claims Handler - Motor & Third Party Property Damage (TPPD) on behalf of a leading specialist brand in the UK Insurance Market.

Location: York / Leeds & Colchester / Essex

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of claims service across a varied portfolio of Third Party Property Damage and Motor claims.

Key Responsibilities

• Taking referrals on motor policy coverage and strategy.
• Managing a portfolio of third party property damage claims under public liability policies with a value up to £100k.
• Demonstrating customer focus throughout the claims lifecycle, with evidence of strong stakeholder engagement.
• Managing claims from first notification to conclusion and for third party claims from pre-litigation through to final hearing or settlement.
• Reviewing and confirming policy coverage position.
• Setting the claim strategy, handling in-house where possible and implementing claim prevention strategies.
• Selecting, instructing and managing law firms and other experts where necessary including proactive indemnity and costs management.
• Liaising and negotiating with clients, brokers, claimants and their representatives, including attending mediations, JSMs and court hearing.
• Identifying fraudulent claims and opportunities for recovery from third parties with clear evidence of strategic claims handling.
• Developing and managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Taking referrals from delegated authority partners on coverage, strategy and reallocation to the internal claims team.
• Obtaining or a willingness to obtain professional qualifications; CII, CILex or equivalent.

Key Requirements

• Experience in handling Motor Claims, with a particular emphasis on policy coverage experience, as an insurance claims handler or within a TPA / Delegated Authority or law firm.
• Special investigation/ fraud experience in motor claims is advantageous.
• Previous experience in handling third party property damage claims under PL policies is advantageous.
• Experience managing claims end-to-end, including instruction of solicitors and oversight of claim strategy.
• Sound understanding of pre-action protocols and civil litigation.
• Demonstrable experience applying policy wording and assessing coverage/liability.
• Background in insurance claims handling or a legal environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims and prioritise effectively under pressure.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
