Job summary

Building Careers UK is simulating an Assistant Estimator role in Manchester, focusing on cladding and façade project estimates. You will review drawings, prepare take-offs, and help with supplier quotes and cost plans. The role supports tender submissions and value engineering alongside the pre-construction team.

The ideal candidate has relevant estimating or QS exposure, strong numeracy, and good IT skills, especially Excel, with a proactive approach to learning and development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or construction support role.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for cladding and façade projects.
• Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Producing quantity take-offs and assisting with cost plans.
• Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Supporting the preparation of tender submissions and pricing schedules.
• Assisting with value engineering exercises and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Working closely with the estimating, commercial, and design teams throughout the tender process.
• Maintaining accurate tender documentation and estimating records.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Supporting project handovers to the commercial and operational teams following successful tenders.
