Job summary

Adler and Allan is seeking a Civils Team Leader to oversee on-site drainage works in Ipswich. The role is permanent/full time with a competitive salary plus company benefits, and will report to the Supervisor.

You will lead operatives, ensure safety, coordinate with engineers, and maintain high workmanship standards while traveling to various job sites as required. You will be part of a dynamic team delivering critical utility services, complying with site policies, and participating in training

Qualifications

• Experience running small drainage or construction teams.
• Understanding of health and safety practices on sites.
• Full UK driving licence and CSCS card or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead operatives to deliver on-site drainage works to high standards.
• Ensure safety and compliance with risk assessments and method statements.
• Record work details accurately and liaise with site supervisor.
• Operate plant/machinery where trained and certified; attend toolbox talks.
• Coordinate with engineers and supervisors to meet project objectives.
• Maintain tidy, hazard-free work areas and effective teamwork.

Lead Operatives are to assist in the delivery of on-site project works to a safe, compliant and to a high standard of workmanship. You will play a vital role in supporting the operational activities necessary for the delivery of utility services to our customers.

The Lead Operative will be responsible to the Supervisor.

More about the roles:

• To work safely at all times and ensure the safety of all those working around them.
• To comply with the requirements of the company policies, procedures and relevant risk assessments and method statements.
• To report all accidents, incidents and near misses.
• To attend Stand Downs, Team Briefs and Toolbox Talks.
• Follow instructions from the site supervisor and or manager to complete tasks efficiently.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as required.
• To attend training and update courses as required.
• Keep the work area clean, organised, and free from hazards.
• To assist with accurately recording details of work undertaken.
• Operate plant and machinery (where trained and certified).
• To represent the company in a professional manner at all times to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work closely with other team members, including engineers and supervisors, to coordinate workflow and achieve operational objectives.
• Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools required for drainage work.
• Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• You will be required to be on a works call out rota on a 1-4 basis- On a 7- day period.

Qualifications

About you:

• Previous experience in running small drainage or construction teams.
• CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme or something similar).
• Good understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual labour.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to various sites
• Strong understanding of drainage systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
