Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is seeking a Site Engineer to support large civils infrastructure projects in the UK. The role involves site setting out, surveying, and coordination with subcontractors to ensure smooth progress.

The ideal candidate holds a civil engineering degree and demonstrates experience with drawings, schedules, and document control, enabling precise handover documentation and quantity takeoffs.

Qualifications

• Qualified to degree level in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Previous site engineering experience preferred.
• Large scale civils infrastructure project experience.
• Experience in structural RC works preferred; drainage, highways and earthworks also considered.
• Experience in possession works (perhaps Network Rail).
• Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card.
• Setting out techniques – use level & EDM, plus GPS.
• Reads and understands drawings and schedules.
• Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works.
• Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately.
• Knowledge of specification and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all permits are applied for and in place for site work to begin.
• Ensure Inspection and Test Plans and Quality Check Sheets are completed.
• Setting out and surveying.
• Management of subcontractors.
• Document control to manage distribution of information.
• Develop and approve relevant procedures for the area of works.
• Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are followed.
• Regularly liaising with the client.
• Ensure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed.
• Liaise with other sections to manage clashes on site for smooth flow of work.
• Regularly review procedures to improve efficiency.
