QED Legal Recruitment Limited in Edinburgh is seeking a civil litigation solicitor to handle an own caseload, advise clients, and represent them in court. The role emphasises developing the contentious private client offering and shaping an expanding practice with a strong client base.

The ideal candidate has up to ten years' PQE, sound knowledge of Scottish law, and excellent drafting and advocacy skills, with an empathetic approach to sensitive family and estates matters.

Job description

If you are a civil litigation solicitor who enjoys the challenge of resolving disputes and would like to develop your experience in contentious private client work, this opportunity is well worth a look.

I'm working with an established Edinburgh practice looking to grow its Court team. There is an existing client base, a supportive environment and the opportunity to play an active part in shaping an expanding area of the business.

You’ll take ownership of your own civil litigation caseload, providing clear, practical advice and representing clients in court. Experience of contentious private client matters would be particularly welcome, although this could also suit someone with a strong general litigation background who is keen to specialise further.

Ideally, you’ll have up to ten years' PQE and be confident progressing court actions with minimal supervision. You’ll bring sound knowledge of Scottish law, strong drafting and advocacy skills, and a proactive approach to moving matters forward.

Just as important is how you work with people. Disputes involving family relationships, estates and succession can be particularly sensitive, so you’ll need empathy, good judgement and the ability to help clients feel informed and supported throughout.

There is scope to build lasting client relationships, contribute ideas and help develop the firm’s civil litigation and contentious private client offering. As the practice grows, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and progress your career.
