Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley invites a motivated undergraduate in Civil Engineering to join a 12‑month placement across design and construction teams. You’ll gain exposure to live projects that benefit communities and travel within the Thames Water framework.

You’ll work on real projects, learn from professionals, and contribute to planning, design, and site activities. Start is Summer 2027, with mentorship and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student in Civil Engineering.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driving license and access to a car.
• Willingness to travel to sites within your region.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, design, construction, commissioning, handover and completion of projects.
• Assist the Project Leader (Designer) with design drawings and documentation.
• Assist Site Engineer with setting out and surveying using GPS, total station, dumpy level and pipe lasers.
• Assist with QA and ITRs according to procedures.
• Support safety, health and environment on site and day-to-day site operations.
• Liaise with designers, support teams and supply chains while on site.
• Assist producing as-built surveys and completion documentation.
