Job summary

Kier is recruiting an Engineering Manager to lead civil engineering activities for a major UK infrastructure project on the Suffolk coast. The role involves technical leadership from design through delivery, oversight of temporary works and rigorous safety and compliance management.

You will mentor engineers, manage design reviews, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders to resolve challenges and keep progress on track.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent).
• Strong experience in civil engineering, including technical leadership and engineering management responsibilities.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale or technically complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience in design management, temporary works, technical assurance and construction engineering.
• A strong understanding of civil engineering design standards, construction methodologies and regulatory requirements.
• The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence technical decisions and communicate confidently with stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, risk management and decision-making skills.
• A valid CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership: Leading civil engineering activities from design and planning through to construction and delivery.
• Design management and assurance: Reviewing drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance.
• Temporary works and construction engineering: Overseeing temporary works and lifting operations where needed.
• Engineering risk management: Identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Team leadership: Mentoring engineers and promoting collaboration and improvement.
• Stakeholder engagement: Working with project managers, designers, contractors and clients to keep progress.
• Quality and technical compliance: Reviewing ITPs, RAMS and promoting standards across the project.
