Job summary

Van Elle, based out of its head office in Kirkby in Ashfield, is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to support projects across the UK. The role focuses on site activities, setting-out, ITPs and RAMS, with emphasis on safety and quality on site.

Applicants should have a Civil Engineering degree or HND and strong communication skills to coordinate with the project team and subcontractors. UK-wide travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of project procedures and quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and construction documents.
• Understanding of safety procedures and hazard recognition.
• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate site activities ensuring setting-out and QC align with the construction programme.
• Use latest drawings and specifications on site; verify information.
• Produce or review ITPs to ensure quality controls meet specification requirements.
• Implement ITPs during works and complete inspections and records.
• Prepare RAMS and ensure documentation is timely.
• Communicate with superintendents, foremen, gangers, workforce and subcontractors.
• Issue permits per Control of Work Procedure (when trained).
• Maintain a detailed daily site diary with changes, attendance and discussions.
• Adhere to STRABAG policies and procedures.
• Attend Daily Co-ordination meetings and Start of Shift briefings.
• Assist planning of activities via 4-weekly programme; monitor progress and raise concerns.
• Coordinate surveying requirements with site surveyors; control establishment and setting out.
• Promote adherence to Management of Change and ensure assessments are in place.
• Undertake planned and ad-hoc H&S inspections and report findings.
