Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Hydropower & Dams team in the UK, delivering projects from concept through to detailed design, construction and operational support.

You will work with project managers and multidisciplinary teams on advisory work, Owner’s Engineer roles, and client‑facing design activities, including due diligence and lender’s assessments. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with ICE, or progress toward this, is expected.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with ICE, or progress toward this.
• Experience in the civil design of dams, hydropower, or pumped storage schemes, or related hydraulic structures (e.g. spillways, culverts, channels, bridges, stilling basins)
• A strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery and how civil engineering integrates with structural, geotechnical, and M&E disciplines
• Experience producing technical specifications, designs, and engineering reports
• Ideally, experience delivering designs for both client-side and design & build (D&B) projects
• Confidence working within 3D design environments and Common Data Environments (CDEs)

Responsibilities

• Support delivery from early-stage concept design through to detailed design, construction, and operational support.
• Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Provide advisory work, Owner’s Engineer roles, client-facing concept design, contractor-facing detailed design, and support for installation, remediation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Contribute to due diligence, lender’s engineer services, and insurance-related assessments, providing insight into project risk, performance and design integrity.
• Work across multiple project phases and balance civil, structural, geotechnical, and M&E considerations to develop integrated solutions.
