Strata Consulting Limited in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to take ownership of design, coordination and delivery on a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.

The role involves designing drainage, producing highway designs (S278/S38), managing projects from concept to delivery, preparing drawings and reports, and mentoring junior engineers. The company offers CPD, ICE accreditation support, private healthcare and flexible/hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years in a Civil Engineering role or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design drainage systems in line with Sewers for Adoption and relevant standards.
• Produce highway designs (S278/S38) per DMRB and Manual for Streets.

The role

• Designing drainage systems in accordance with relevant standards, including Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations and the SuDS Manual.
• Producing highway designs, including S278 and S38 schemes, in line with DMRB, Manual for Streets and other relevant guidance.
• Managing designated projects from initial concept through to successful delivery.
• Preparing high-quality engineering drawings, reports and technical documentation.
• Supporting the preparation of fee proposals and project submissions.
• Coordinating with developers, architects, local authorities, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Reviewing and checking work completed by junior engineers.
• Providing mentoring and technical guidance to junior members of the team.
• Assisting with resource planning to support successful project delivery.
• Contributing to business development activities and helping to identify new opportunities.
• Representing the business at client meetings and networking events.
• Using industry-standard software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D, to develop effective engineering solutions.

What you need to succeed

• An HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of four years' experience in a similar Civil Engineering role.
• Previous consultancy experience within the civil engineering sector.
• Experience working with developers, architects and local authorities across a range of development schemes.
• A strong working knowledge of drainage and highway design standards and regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or equivalent design software.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• A desire to work towards, or continue progressing towards, ICE professional accreditation.
• A collaborative approach, with the confidence and enthusiasm to mentor and support junior colleagues.
