Job summary

Strata Construction Consulting UK Ltd in Cambridge is seeking an ambitious Civil Engineer to join our growing consultancy. You will contribute to drainage, highways, and infrastructure designs, working with a team of experienced engineers to deliver high-quality projects across the UK.

You will use AutoCAD and Civil 3D, developing technical drawings and coordinating with clients, developers and local authorities.

Qualifications

• HND/BEng/MEng/MSc in Civil Engineering required.
• At least two years' experience in civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience in drainage, highways and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to work with developers, architects and local authorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of drainage systems, highway layouts and S278/S38 schemes.
• Produce technical designs in line with industry standards (Sewers for Adoption, SuDS Manual, Manual for Streets, DMRB).
• Prepare accurate, high-quality engineering drawings and technical packages.
• Liaise with clients, developers, architects and local authorities on project aspects.
• Work closely with senior engineers to ensure timely delivery and high standards.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other software to develop design solutions.
• Support project coordination and delivery while developing technical knowledge.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to wider business development, marketing and networking.

The role

• Supporting the design of drainage systems, highway layouts and S278/S38 schemes.
• Producing technical designs in line with relevant industry standards, including Sewers for Adoption, the SuDS Manual, Manual for Streets and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
• Preparing accurate, high-quality engineering drawings and technical packages.
• Liaising with clients, developers, architects and local authorities on designated aspects of projects.
• Working closely with senior engineers to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop effective design solutions.
• Supporting project coordination and delivery while continuing to develop your technical knowledge.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
• Contributing to wider business development, marketing and networking activities where appropriate.

What you need to succeed

• An HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• At least two years' experience in a similar role within a civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience working on drainage, highways and infrastructure projects.
• A good understanding of relevant design standards, guidance and industry best practice.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or equivalent 3D design software.
• Experience working with developers, architects and local authorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality work.
• A desire to work towards, or be actively progressing towards, ICE professional accreditation.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team
