Job summary

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is hiring a Civil Enforcement Officer in Royal Tunbridge Wells. This public-facing role involves patrolling streets and car parks, issuing PCNs, and helping residents and visitors with parking information.

Full training is provided, and you’ll join a proactive, customer‑focused team. Expected duties include reporting issues, using handheld devices, and working a 7.4‑hour day in a 5‑day week schedule.

We are hiring a Civil Enforcement Officer; a public-facing, outdoor role where you’ll be responsible for helping to manage traffic flow and ensure parking regulations are followed.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and has the commitment, passion and drive to help an enthusiastic team deliver a high-quality service. You will provide outstanding customer care, within a high profile and vital Council service that supports to the day-to-day activities of all residents, business and the thousands of daily visitors to the area.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrolling streets and car parks on foot or in a vehicle to monitor parking compliance.

You don’t need prior experience—full training is provided—but the following qualities are essential:

• Excellent communication: You’ll be the face of the council, so being approachable and clear is key.
• Customer service: Helping people with a wide range of queries, not just parking-related.
• Physical fitness: You’ll walk several miles a day, often in varying weather conditions.
• Teamwork and independence: You’ll work solo most of the time but stay in regular contact with your team.

Who you will be

We are looking for someone that is self- motivated, a strong communicator, resilient, who has proven ability to be diplomatic, calm, kind, empathetic and detail orientated.

Working Hours

• Schedule: 7.4 hours per day, 5 days a week
• Shifts: Between 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM, on a two-week rotating cycle

Requirements

• Standard DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) must be passed
• Full UK driving license.

Training & Development

• Full induction and ongoing professional development opportunities. This includes the NVQ Level 2 qualification.
