Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Generator Field Service Engineer to maintain, diagnose, repair and optimise a fleet of CHP spark-ignition biogas engines across Thames Valley and London sites.

The role involves travel across the Thames Water area, with a base at a Thames Valley or London site. You’ll perform planned and unplanned maintenance, ensure safety, complete service records, and provide excellent customer service while developing skills with the team.

Qualifications

• Ideally, NVQ/ C&G or an engine manufacturer's qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Electrical qualification is an advantage, but not essential.
• Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
• Natural / Bio / AD Gas engine, CHP, and gas system experience is desirable but not essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of CHP spark-ignition generators within a region.
• Work with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe, timely maintenance within budget.
• Complete service records and reports accurately and promptly.
• Identify parts required for orders, lubricants, and waste.
• Demonstrate a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and wellbeing.
• Ensure excellent customer service and share skills with team members.
