Job summary
Thames Water is seeking a Generator Field Service Engineer to maintain, diagnose, repair and optimise a fleet of CHP spark ignition biogas engines across Thames Valley sites. You will travel within the region, carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance and ensuring safety, quality and timeliness.
The role offers a competitive salary (£44,000–£65,000), standby/overtime, a company van when on duty, and a comprehensive benefits package including generous pension and leave entitlements.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to diagnose engine, generator and related systems thoroughly.
- Experience with engine/generator controls (ComAp, DIA.NE, TEM Evo).
- Full UK driving licence and good communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of CHP Spark Ignition generators across a regional area.
- Work with CHP support staff and suppliers to minimise downtime and stay within budget.
- Complete service records and reports accurately and timely.
- Identify parts, lubricants, and waste required for service.
- Demonstrate zero-compromise health and safety attitude.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Share knowledge with team from product training.
