We are seeking an experienced and motivated Children's Team Manager to lead a Child in Need (CIN) team in Leicester. This is an opportunity for a qualified social work professional to provide strong leadership, professional support and effective oversight to a team working with children, young people and families who require targeted intervention. You will promote high standards of practice, ensuring that children's welfare, safety and outcomes remain at the centre of all decision‑making.
You will manage and support a team of social workers, providing regular supervision, reflective practice, case direction and performance management. Your responsibilities will include overseeing assessments, plans, reviews and statutory interventions; ensuring work is completed within relevant timescales; and maintaining accurate, high-quality records. You will work collaboratively with families and partner agencies, including education, health, early help and safeguarding services, to coordinate effective plans that reduce risk and improve outcomes. You will also contribute to child protection processes where concerns escape, support robust quality assurance, and ensure practice complies with legislation, guidance and local procedures.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England, together with substantial post‑qualifying experience in children's social care. Experience of managing or supervising social workers, particularly within a Child in Need, safeguarding or family support setting, is highly desirable. You should have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks, excellent knowledge of assessment and intervention approaches, and the ability to make sound professional decisions in complex situations. Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills are essential, alongside a commitment to anti‑discriminatory practice, partnership working and continuous improvement. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for the role.
