Job summary

Keys Group is recruiting a Residential Support Worker for its Children's Homes in Cardiff. You will provide therapeutic care, support daily living needs, and help children build confidence and life skills in a caring home.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, eligibility for Social Care Wales registration, and a flexible, outdoors-friendly approach. Sleep-ins are paid, with progression through enhanced pay scales and funded training.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience with young people and children is preferred.
  • Must be caring, energetic and enjoy the outdoors.
  • Excellent communication and a positive, fun attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic care and support for each child.
  • Be part of a family team led by a registered manager.
  • Act as a positive role model for daily living needs.
  • Carry out household tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
  • Offer emotional and physical support to help children reach potential.
  • Build friendships and trusting relationships.
  • Encourage enjoyment in everyday activities.
  • Empower children to make decisions about themselves.

Residential Support Worker Children's Homes

Location: St-Georges-Super-Ely

Salary: Starting from £27,276.60 plus £3000 - £6000 pa for sleep-ins. (£62.64 per sleep-in)

Shift patterns -Full time working long day shifts plus sleeps.

Full UK driving licence is required for this role.

As a therapeutic support worker you will
  • Be part of a family team that provides a safe and loving home for children and young people, led and supported by a registered manager.
  • Provide the therapeutic care and support needed for each individual child.
  • Act as a positive role model to meet their everyday living needs,
  • Enjoy the outdoors and having shared interests such as fashion and art.
  • Carry out household tasks such as cooking and cleaning
  • Provide emotional and physical support to allow the children to reach their full potential in sometimes challenging situations
  • Build friendships and trusting relationships
  • Help them to find pleasure in everyday tasks
  • Empower them to make decisions about themselves

What do you need
  • You must be eligible for registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Previous experience of working with young people and children.
  • We want people who are naturally caring, energetic and enjoy the outdoors.
  • Great communication skills, positive and fun.
  • Full UK Driving licence is required
  • Ability to remain calm and to show resilience
  • Ability to relate to our young people and share interests and encourage hobbies.
  • You need to be able to work flexibly in caring for the children. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins .
