Job summary

Brambles, an eight-bed residential home operated by Hollybank Trust, is seeking a Senior Support Worker to lead shifts and drive high-quality care for children and young people in Mirfield.

You will supervise Support Workers, support care planning and work with therapists, families and professionals to create a safe, person-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential childcare or social care services.
  • Experience supervising, coaching or line managing care staff.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with disabilities and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care and effective team leadership.
  • Ability to remain calm, positive and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.

We're looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our vibrant and dedicated team at Brambles, an eight-bed residential home supporting children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex needs.

What You'll Be Doing

Provide outstanding support to children with complex needs

Lead by example on shift and support the day-to-day running of the home

Coach, mentor and supervise Support Workers

Support with care planning, audits and quality assurance activities

Administer and oversee medication safely

Promote independence, choice and dignity in everything you do

Work closely with therapists, families and multidisciplinary professionals

Help create a safe, positive and engaging environment where people can flourish

Support children to enjoy social activities, hobbies and community experiences

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have

  • Experience working within residential childcare, social care or specialist care services.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching or line managing care staff.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care and effective team leadership.
  • The ability to remain calm, positive and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.

Ideally you'll have:

Previous experience within a care or support environment

Experience supporting people with complex needs, disabilities or additional needs

NVQ Level 3 in Care (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it

Strong communication and leadership skills

Good IT and record-keeping skills

A positive, resilient and caring nature
