Job summary

Your Chapter is a specialist provider of residential care and education, supporting vulnerable children and young people with complex trauma across England and Wales. As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will be a crucial part of a passionate team, helping young people navigate challenges and create positive change in their lives.

You will support daily routines, educational activities, and recreational engagements while maintaining a safe and caring home environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential care preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting daily routines: helping children with personal care, meals and activities to foster independence.
  • Providing educational support: assisting with homework and developing new skills.
  • Leading recreational activities and holidays to boost engagement and well-being.
  • Providing emotional support and person-centred guidance.
  • Completing care plans, reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised home.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create a nurturing environment.

Job description

Location: Preston, PR2
Salary: Up to £33,703 per annum
Hours: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week) with a flexible shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and an average of two sleep-ins per week (included in salary - £55 per sleep-in). Voluntary overtime is also available.

As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll be a crucial part of a passionate team, helping vulnerable young people through their challenges and creating positive change in their lives.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Residential Support Worker, your role will include:

  • Supporting daily routines: Supporting children with personal care, meal preparation, and daily activities to help them develop independence
  • Educational support: Encouraging and supporting children in their learning journey, assisting with homework, and helping them develop new skills
  • Leading recreational activities: Organising and leading recreational activities, including fun events and holidays, to increase engagement and enhance well-being.
  • Emotional support: Providing guidance, care, and person-centred support to help children navigate difficult moments
  • Documentation: Completing care plans, reports, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintaining a safe environment: Ensuring the home is clean, secure, and well-organised
  • Team collaboration: Working closely with colleagues to create a positive, nurturing environment

Previous experience in residential care is preferred but not essential—we provide full training to support your success in the role.
