Job summary

Newcross Healthcare Plymouth, Devon is seeking compassionate Children\u2019s Residential Support Workers to provide stability, care and encouragement to children and young people. Pay ranges from £14.25 to £16.35 per hour with part-time and full-time shifts available.

The role involves day-to-day care, emotional support and positive role modelling within a residential setting, building trusting relationships, supporting routines and independence, and helping manage emotions and behaviours

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• At least 6 months of full-time paid UK care experience in the last 3 years.
• At least 3 months’ experience working with children or young people (in the last 3 years).
• Relevant registration for applicants in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland (e.g. SSSC, SCW, NISCC) – not required in England.

Responsibilities

• Provide day to day care, emotional support, and positive role modelling within a residential care setting.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Support daily routines, education, and independence.
• Help young people manage emotions and behaviours safely.
• Work closely with the wider care team to deliver high quality care.
• Provide a calm and reliable presence during both positive and challenging situations.
• Be a steady, caring presence - someone they can count on.

What you'll need:

• At least 3 months’ experience working with children or young people(in the last 3 years)
• Relevant registration for applicants in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland (e.g. SSSC, SCW, NISCC) – not required in England
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
