Job summary

Diamond Search Recruitment are recruiting a Residential Care Worker for a children’s residential care provider in Littleover, Derby. You will join a small, dedicated team delivering trauma-informed care to children and young people, supporting their emotional, educational and independent development in a safe home environment.

Experience with children, strong communication, and a commitment to safeguarding are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with children and young people in residential care or related settings.
• Ability to stay calm and resilient in challenging or sensitive situations.
• Positive, professional and compassionate approach.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
• Willingness to learn, develop and take responsibility.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Support the physical and emotional wellbeing, safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
• Follow individual care, education and risk management plans.
• Support children and young people with day-to-day living, education and personal development.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent and positive role model.
• Support the Registered Manager in maintaining the home's Good Ofsted rating and working towards Outstanding.
• Help ensure the home remains clean, safe, welcoming and well maintained.
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately.
• Work effectively with families, professionals and external stakeholders.
• Develop knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and children’s residential care standards.
• Demonstrate integrity, optimism, resilience, determination and compassion in your work.
