Job summary

Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, invites applications for a Lecturer in Childcare on a fixed-term basis until December 2027. The role involves teaching and assessing across Level 3 childcare courses, supporting learners’ development, and contributing to curriculum design and quality assurance.

The post holder will create an inclusive learning environment, engage with employers for placements, and participate in CPD to stay current in the field.

Qualifications

• Degree in Childcare-related field required.
• Teaching qualification (or working towards one) preferred.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in childcare.
• Experience teaching or training in childcare required.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Learner-focused, inclusive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Teach and assess learners across childcare courses.
• Support student retention, achievement and progression.
• Act as personal tutor and course coordinator for designated groups.
• Develop high-quality teaching materials and schemes of work.
• Engage with employers and external bodies for placements.
• Contribute to curriculum quality assurance and improvements.
• Support marketing, curriculum development and course coordination.
• Commit to CPD (minimum 30 hours annually).
