Job description

Do you thrive from supporting vulnerable children with complex needs and physical disabilities?

A special school in Wakefield is seeking a Child Support Worker to join their team of dedicated support staff. The school caters for children aged 4 to 11 with learning disabilities, PMLD and complex medical conditions. They are looking for a Child Support Worker to join them on a full-time, long term basis to start in September.

Responsibilities:

1. To support the pupils in your class in accordance with their care plan.
2. Work alongside the class teacher and other support staff to ensure the health and well-being of each child is kept safe.
3. To help run exciting lessons with sensory activities which help to enhance the skills of the children.
4. To support physically disabled children with mobility which may also include utilising the school’s swimming pool so the pupils can experience water play.

Previous experience of support or care is required as this experience will assist you in catering to the needs of the children and adding to their quality of life.
