Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated Child Practitioner for a Primary SEND School in Haywards Heath. This full-time, temp-to-perm role involves providing 1:1 SEND support, helping pupils engage in classroom activities and assisting with transitions throughout the day.

You will work closely with teachers to implement personalised strategies, promote positive behaviour, and accompany pupils on school trips, helping them grow independence and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Calm, patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
  • Confident working independently and in a team.
  • Understands importance of consistency and positive behaviour support.
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Willing to obtain a Child Only Enhanced DBS Certificate.

Responsibilities

Location: Haywards Heath
Pay: £360–£460 per week
Contract: Temp to Perm
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming Primary SEND School in Haywards Heath to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Child Practitioner to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of primary-aged boys with Special Educational Needs (SEND). The school is looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting pupils during classroom learning and educational activities.
  • Assisting pupils during transitions between lessons and throughout the school day.
  • Accompanying and supporting pupils on school trips and off-site activities.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team to implement individual support strategies.
  • Acting as a positive and consistent role model, promoting independence, resilience, and confidence.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Has previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
  • Is calm, patient, empathetic, and resilient.

  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, a Child Only Enhanced DBS Certificate.
Additional Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
  • Child Only Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Full-time availability, Monday to Friday.
  • Previous SEND experience.
