Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a nurturing Primary SEND school in the Haywards Heath area to recruit a SEND Support Worker on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis. The role focuses on one-to-one support for primary-aged boys with special educational needs, building positive relationships and supporting academic and personal growth.

  • Delivering dedicated 1:1 support to primary-aged boys with SEND.

DBS Requirement: Enhanced Child Workforce DBS

Experience: Previous SEND experience preferred

SEND Support Worker - Haywards Heath

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a nurturing and inclusive Primary Special Educational Needs (SEND) school in the Haywards Heath area, who are looking to recruit a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Worker to join their team on a full‑time, temporary‑to‑permanent basis.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally. You will provide tailored 1:1 support to primary‑aged boys with Special Educational Needs, playing a key role in their educational journey while building positive and trusting relationships that enable them to thrive.

The Role

As a SEND Support Worker, you will work closely with individual pupils throughout the school day, providing personalised support both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering dedicated 1:1 support to primary‑aged boys with Special Educational Needs.
  • Building strong, positive relationships that promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Supporting pupils with their academic learning, adapting activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement.
  • Assisting pupils during transitions between lessons and around the school environment.
  • Encouraging participation during Physical Education lessons, including activities such as football and other team sports, ensuring pupils feel supported, included, and motivated.
  • Supporting children during outdoor learning, enrichment activities, and educational visits.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to provide consistent and effective support.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils develop essential communication, social, and life skills.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Is patient, caring, resilient, and enthusiastic about making a genuine difference in children's lives.
  • Has experience or confidence working on a 1:1 basis with primary‑aged pupils.
  • Enjoys promoting active participation in physical activities and outdoor learning.
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS.
  • Can commit to working full‑time, Monday to Friday.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle due to the school's location.
