Job summary

Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Community Practitioner for 22.5 hours per week to support the Children’s Neurodevelopmental assessment Pathway in Newcastle and Gateshead CYPS.

You will coordinate autism and ADHD assessments for children and young people across Northumberland, working with families, schools, and multi‑agency partners to deliver child‑centred and evidence‑based care.

Qualifications

• Registered health or social care professional with experience in pediatrics.
• Experience with children, young people and families is essential.
• Competent in developmental, behavioural or emotional assessments.
• Skilled in multi‑agency collaboration and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and contribute to autism and ADHD assessments.
• Take developmental histories, perform structured observations and clinical interviews.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team including psychology, SLT, social work, and nursing.
• Support families to understand the assessment process and next steps.
• Communicate clearly with parents, carers and professionals; participate in MDT meetings.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
