Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for a full-time fixed-term Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) in Specialist Children’s Services Neurodevelopmental Waiting List team. Newly qualifying psychologists are welcome.

The post is based in Templeton Business Centre and runs 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00, for 18 months. You will work under supervision within a multidisciplinary team, delivering assessments, formulations and evidence-based

Qualifications

• Essential: Honours degree in Psychology (eligible for GBC).
• Essential: Postgraduate MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children and Young People.
• Essential: Experience of a range of mental health conditions in children and young people.
• Essential: Ability to understand and present complex clinical information.
• Essential: Experience in a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
• Essential: Experience in a CAMHS setting.
• Desirable: Further training in evidence-based psychotherapy other than CBT.
• Desirable: Training in supervision skills for model-based psychological therapies.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and treatment recommendations for mild-moderate mental health disorders in children/young people.
• Use a range of assessment measures compatible with children, young people and families.
• Carry a specialist caseload of children and young people.
• Assess pre-disposing and precipitating factors for presenting problems.
• Utilise psychometric measures, observation and behavioural assessment in various settings.
• Deliver individual and group interventions that are clearly described within the formulation.
