Leonardo UK is seeking a Chief Engineer - Support to join the Sensors business sector, providing System Design Authority responsibilities for in-service products. The role emphasizes safety, supportability, and lifecycle governance with technical leadership across design changes and customer engagements.

You will lead design reviews, manage technical risk, and collaborate with support engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to maximise product value for customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a senior role within defence systems engineering.
• Experience in design authority or post-design support activities.
• Experience with safety cases and certification maintenance.
• Ability to lead technical risk management and governance.
• Excellent communication across SMEs and end users from diverse nationalities.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical baseline of in-service products and maintain design integrity.
• Lead design reviews and ensure lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with support engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
• Ensure compliance with performance, legislative and contractual requirements.
• Provide technical support for customer reviews and field deployments.
• Lead investigations into failures and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain safety justification and manage hazards throughout lifecycle.
• Contribute to future capability enhancements and technology roadmaps.
