Job summary

SSE is seeking a Group Head of Data to lead SSE's data strategy and governance, setting enterprise data direction and enabling data-driven decision making. You will collaborate with CIOs and business leaders to build and sustain data capabilities, analytics, and AI initiatives across SSE.

The role demands extensive senior leadership experience in data, a strong governance background, and the ability to drive enterprise-level data programs and platforms with measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior leadership experience across data and related technology in a large organisation.
• Proven track record in shaping data strategy, governance and management with measurable outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, and data products.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute SSE's group-wide data strategy, operating model, priorities and investment direction.
• Establish and operate enterprise data governance and data management as distinct but connected capabilities.
• Set direction for secure, resilient and cost-effective enterprise data technologies, platforms and services.
• Define enterprise data architecture, modelling, engineering, integration and API standards.
• Provide trusted data foundations, standards and guardrails for reporting, analytics, data products and AI-enabled solutions.
• Lead and develop SSE's data profession, building leadership capability and data fluency.
• Partner with CIOs and leaders to address cross-SSE dependencies and manage data risks.
