Rapiscan Systems in Salfords, UK, seeks a Chief Product Engineer for ATRS and conveyance. You will guide cross‑functional teams to deliver advanced material‑handling solutions across development, deployment, and sustainment.

Lead technical vision, architecture ownership, and platform stewardship; support proposals, customer engagements, and lifecycle improvements within a globally distributed engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years in complex electro‑mechanical system development or systems engineering within regulated or safety‑critical environments.
• Experience leading the technical delivery and lifecycle stewardship of ATRS, conveyance, baggage handling, cargo handling, automated industrial systems, or comparable integrated platforms.
• Proven ability to act as product technical authority, system architect, or chief/lead engineer for large, integrated, multi‑disciplinary products.
• Strong record of guiding cross‑functional teams through technical trade‑offs involving product scope, customer commitments, cost, schedule, technical risk, manufacturability, quality, and serviceability.
• Experience supporting product management, revenue project delivery, customer technical engagements, production transition, deployed product support, and continuous product improvement.
• Strong background in automated conveyor systems, PLC‑based controls, industrial networking, system integration, machinery safety, EMC, and electro‑mechanical design governance.

Responsibilities

• Act as Chief Product Engineer and technical authority for ATRS and conveyance systems.
• Define and maintain system architectures, requirements, interfaces and design standards.
• Support sales with technical explanations, design justification, compliance inputs, and technical reviews.
• Drive product line improvements, reliability, obsolescence responses, and cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Lead innovation and integration of automated conveyance with screening tech and IT infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership for deployed products and lifecycle sustainment.
