Job summary

Compass Group UK&I in Lockerbie is seeking a Chef Manager to lead a busy workplace catering operation. You will oversee kitchen activities, develop a small team, and ensure seasonal menus meet quality and customer expectations.

The role requires driving licence and vehicle, with a Monday–Friday 7:00–15:00 shift and a £38,000 annual salary. This is a hands-on opportunity to manage food service in a corporate setting and drive service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of a busy workplace catering operation.
• Deliver high-quality, seasonal food in line with brand standards.
• Oversee a varied food offer including breakfast, soups, mains, and snacks.
• Manage and develop a team of 3 staff members with coaching and training.
• Ensure kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards.
• Handle stock control, ordering, supplier relationships and waste.
• Maintain excellent customer service and client relationships.
• Create seasonal, innovative menus meeting customer needs.
• Monitor food and labour costs to drive efficiency while maintaining quality.

Salary: £38,000 per annum

Location: Arla, Lockerbie

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 7:00-15:00, 40 hours per week

Due to the location, driving licence and vehicle is essential

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of a busy workplace catering operation, serving 100-150 covers per day.
• Deliver a high-quality, seasonal food offer in line with CH&CO brand standards, ensuring excellent presentation, taste, and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee the preparation and service of a varied food offer including full breakfast, soup of the day, main course, vegetarian dish, grab & go, hot snacks, home baking, toasties, and pizza.
• Manage and develop a team of 3 staff members, providing training, coaching, and support to maintain high performance.
• Take full accountability for kitchen operations, food safety, health & safety compliance, and hygiene standards.
• Manage stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, and waste management to achieve budget and profit targets.
• Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained throughout the operation and build strong client relationships.
• Produce menus and food offers that are seasonal, innovative, and commercially successful while meeting customer requirements.
• Monitor food and labour costs, driving efficiencies while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Work flexibly across shifts as required by the needs of the business.
