Job summary

ESS – Defence, Energy and Government Services is seeking an ambitious Chef to join our Defence catering team on a full‑time basis (35 hours per week). You will prepare and serve high‑quality meals, contribute to menu development and maintain hygiene standards in busy kitchens.

You’ll work a 5‑out‑of‑7 pattern, with opportunities to progress through our Career Pathways and MyLearning programmes, and benefit from a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent for food service.
• Experience supervising a kitchen team.
• Food Hygiene certificate and commitment to hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious, high‑quality meals for clients and customers.
• Oversee and implement menu changes to delight guests.
• Identify opportunities to improve food services.
• Listen to customer feedback and act to improve quality.
• Support creation of new menus and concepts.
• Represent Defence and maintain a positive brand image.
• Monitor inventories to keep kitchens well stocked.
• Oversee kitchen cleaning and hygiene compliance.
• Comply with Food Handling and Health & Safety regulations.
