Job summary

Avery Healthcare's Sonning Gardens Care Home in Reading is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Chef de Partie to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef, helping lead a culinary team to deliver nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals for residents.

You will meet residents and department heads to discuss needs, prepare meals, manage stock to minimise waste, and review menus regularly. A catering qualification and Basic Food Hygiene certificate are required, with at least one year of catering experience.

Qualifications

• Hold a catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Have a minimum of 1-year catering experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss catering functions and dietary needs.
• Prepare nutritional meals and beverages to a high standard as directed by the Head Chef.
• Support cost-control stock management to minimise waste.
• Collaborate with Head Chef and Sous Chef to develop and review menus regularly.
