Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Chef De Partie to join Sonning Gardens Care Home in Reading, supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals that meet residents’ dietary needs. You’ll be part of a warm, award-winning team committed to exceptional care and resident wellbeing.

The role requires a catering qualification, a Basic Food Hygiene certificate, and at least one year of catering experience.

Qualifications

• Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Have a minimum of 1-year catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.
• Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Taking part in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss catering functions across the home, and to address special needs or dietary requirements of residents.
• Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Head Chef.
• Supporting cost-effective stock control systems to minimise waste and ensure these are in place.
• Working with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to develop and review the menu on a regular basis.
