Job summary

San Carlo Birmingham is hiring a Chef de Partie to join our Italian kitchen team. You will work in a busy section, preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in line with recipes and standards, while supervising junior staff as needed.

You will be part of a supportive team with excellent benefits and opportunities for progression, including a strong focus on training and development within our brand.

• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking food in assigned kitchen section (grill, pasta, meat & fish, or pastry).
• Ensuring food preparation and cooking meet recipes and quality standards.
• Managing their kitchen section and supervising junior staff.
• Keeping their section clean, organised and equipment maintained.
• Collaborating with kitchen staff and management to ensure timely service.
• Adhering to food safety and allergens policies.
• Maintaining accurate records of inventory, prep, and waste for their section.
• Treating everyone with respect and remaining calm at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and cooking food in their assigned section of the kitchen, such as grill, pasta, meat & fish, or pastry
• Ensuring that all food preparation and cooking is done in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
• Managing their section of the kitchen, including overseeing the work of any commis chefs or kitchen assistants
• Ensuring that their section of the kitchen is clean and organised, and that all equipment is properly maintained
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Adhering to company food safety and allergens policy
• Maintaining accurate records of food inventory, preparation, and waste for their section of the kitchen
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 2 year’s experience in a similar role
• Excellent communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail, highly organised and capable of handling multiple tasks
• A proactive self-starter who can work independently with good judgement and minimal direction
