Job summary

Berkeley Scott is seeking experienced School Cooks to work across Surrey and surrounding areas in temporary, ongoing agency roles. You will prepare nutritious meals in busy school kitchens and operate to high hygiene standards. Roles offer weekly pay, daytime hours, and long-term placement prospects.

Ideal candidates hold Food Safety Level 2, Allergen Awareness, and DBS checks. Transport is helpful for sites across Birmingham area and neighbouring towns.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cook in school/education or commercial catering.
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate is required.
• Food Allergen Awareness Certificate is required.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for pupils.
• Assist with food preparation and service during peak periods.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
• Follow Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
• Support kitchen team with daily duties and stock rotation.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained.

Berkeley Scott is currently recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Surrey and the surrounding areas. If you have experience preparing fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and are looking for flexible, ongoing work, we'd love to hear from you. The Role

As a School Cook, you will play an important role in preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals.
• Assisting with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
• Following Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
• Supporting the kitchen team with daily duties.
• Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
• Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.

What We're Looking For

To be considered, you should have:

• Previous experience as a Cook within a school, education, care, or commercial catering environment.
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
• Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• A reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
• The ability to work well as part of a team.
• Own transport is desirable due to travel between school sites.
