Job description

Based in the heart of Cambridge, St Catharine’s College is looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Chef de Partie to join our busy, friendly Catering team, providing a first-class service for our college community. The successful candidate will assist the Kitchen Manager in providing high-quality meals to our community and conferencing customers, in compliance with Food and Safety Regulations and College policies.

This role is varied, offering a broad range of cooking opportunities from everyday College meals for students and conference guests to fine dining for more formal events. Full training is available to support the successful candidate's professional development.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have breadth of experience, skills, and achievements gained from working within a hotel, restaurant, or contract catering environment.
  • Have the ability to work as a team member cooking and presenting the required quantity of high-quality and nutritious food according to menu and recipe specifications.
  • Be able to prepare a wide variety of delicious and well-presented meals.
  • Be successful in assisting with stock rotation of all foodstuffs, including labeling, dating, and proper storage in appropriate areas.
  • Adhere to the College Food Hygiene Policy, and current Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation.

Working arrangements

The full-time hours are 40 hours per week, worked on a shift basis, including evenings and weekends.

Employment arrangements
  • This is a permanent appointment (subject to a six-month probation period).
  • Salary: £31,000 per annum.
