Job summary

Sussex County Cricket Club in Hove is seeking a Casual Chef de Partie to join our kitchen for the 2026 season, delivering high-quality dishes for matchday crowds, VIP hospitality, and events.

You will work with the kitchen team to prepare and cook assigned dishes, maintain hygiene and presentation, and support the Head Chef in busy service periods. The role offers an hourly rate of £15.97 and requires flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Chef de Partie or Line Cook in a restaurant, bar or hospitality setting.
• Strong culinary skills and passion for food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook assigned dishes, ensuring recipes, portion sizes and presentation meet standards.
• Assist in preparation and organisation of ingredients, equipment and workstations.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to coordinate timing and ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Monitor food quality and adjust as needed to maintain taste and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen per health and safety regulations.
• Assist in inventory management and stock rotation.
• Follow food safety protocols to ensure guest and staff safety.
• Support Head Chef and Sous Chef during menu execution and events.

Sussex County Cricket Club, the world's oldest professional sports club, has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Chef de Partie to join our team for the 2026 season at the 1st Central County Ground in the heart of Hove. Our historic venue hosts thrilling cricket matches, including T20 clashes and County Championship fixtures, as well as large-scale concerts and corporate events. From serving matchday crowds to providing VIP hospitality, this is a chance to be part of an exciting and fast-paced environment.

The hourly rate for this role is £15.97

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook assigned dishes, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion-sizes, and presentation standards, to meet guest expectations and quality requirements
• Assist in the preparation and the organisation of ingredients, equipment, and workstations to facilitate smooth and efficient service
• Work collaboratively with other members of the kitchen team to coordinate cooking times and ensure timely delivery of food orders to guests
• Monitor foood quaiity and consistency throughout the cooking process, making adjustments as needed to maintain high standards of taste and presentation
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the assigned section of the kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces, in accordance with health and safety regulations
• Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation, storage organisation, to support kitchen operations
• Follow food safety protocols and hygiene practices in accordance with the Food Safety management system to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff members
• Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in executing menu items, special events, and promotions as required

What is required for this role?
