Job summary

Barchester Healthcare Homes Limited is seeking a casual Bank Chef to support our kitchens with fresh, seasonal meals while delivering the high standards our residents expect. This flexible, part-time position lets you work around other commitments and focuses on quality, balanced menus tailored to residents’ needs.

You will assist the Head Chef, contribute to menu planning, and help create a warm, welcoming dining environment in our homes, ensuring nutrition and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with wellbeing of residents.
• Qualifications: City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience in leading a kitchen team and understanding HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Prepare high-quality dishes using fresh seasonal produce.
• Lead, motivate and support the team; manage stock and budgets within policy.
• Complete regular audits and maintain food safety standards (HACCP).

Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. Working as a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
• Good understanding of HACCP
