Job summary

Sodexo Group is hiring a Chef for a Ministry of Defence environment in the UK. You will prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen, supporting events and large-scale productions while maintaining top hygiene standards.

You will work varied shifts (06:00–14:00, 08:00–16:00, 10:00–18:00, 11:00–19:00) across 37.5 hours per week, with 5 days out of 7, earning £16.72 per hour. Free onsite parking and 10% discount at Site Shop are available benefits.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Chef in catering, hospitality or large-scale food service.
Culinary qualifications as listed (City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3).
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
Ability to work in fast-paced, team-based environments.

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen.
Deliver meals to military personnel and support events and functions.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and comply with EHO regulations.

What you’ll do:

Prepare, cook, and present high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen, ensuring consistency and excellent standards at all times.
Deliver meals to military personnel and support high-profile events, functions, and special occasions.
Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation, ensuring full compliance with EHO regulations.
Support large-scale and bulk food production while maintaining quality, presentation, and attention to detail.
Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to provide an outstanding dining experience and efficient service.

What you bring:

Proven experience as a Chef in a catering, hospitality, or large-scale food service environment, with a passion for delivering exceptional food and service.
Hold a recognised culinary qualification, such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery, or an equivalent certification.
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, demonstrating excellent organisation, communication, and time-management skills.
Experience within military, government, or contract catering environments is advantageous, as are IOSH certification and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
