Job summary

The Ivy Lodge care home in Haxby, near York, is seeking an experienced chef to lead our kitchen and deliver a nourishing, varied menu for our elderly residents. You will manage the kitchen operation to support residents' wellbeing and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
  • Experience managing and motivating a catering team.
  • Experience providing food for people with special dietary requirements.
  • Flexible, able to work alternate weekends.
  • Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Designing a varied menu that reflects residents' tastes and nutritional needs.
  • Ensuring mealtimes are a high-quality experience.
  • Maintaining the highest food standards.
  • Supporting, training and directing the kitchen team.
  • Mentoring and motivating on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Assisting the General Manager in managing resources within the department.

Who We Are Looking For
  • You should have recent experience of cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
  • You must have previously managed and motivated a catering team.
  • You'll have experience of providing food for people with special dietary requirements.
  • Wed like someone who is flexible, who can work alternate weekends.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
How Youll Make a Difference

You will be responsible for our residents meal experience and running the nursing homes kitchen.

Leading and supporting a team, you will:

  • Designing a varied menu that reflects our residents tastes and supports their nutritional needs.
  • Ensuring mealtimes are always a high-quality experience.
  • Maintaining the highest food standards.
  • Supporting, training and directing the kitchen team.
  • Mentoring and motivating on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Assisting the General Manager in developing and managing the budgetary, human and material resources within the department.
