Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment is actively recruiting experienced Education Chefs for term-time roles across schools in the Colchester area. Roles offer weekday work, work-life balance and potential long-term/permanent placements in school kitchens.

Competitive pay, weekly pay, weekends off, and opportunities to pick up extra work at weekends/holidays are available. A £50 refer-a-friend scheme is also offered after a referral works 10 shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience as senior Chef – preferably in a school or similar environment
• Right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for these roles
• Enhanced DBS with child workforce or willing to obtain is essential
• Strong, reliable, and excellent communication skills are essential
• A passion for providing healthy meals for children and young people
• Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens, as well as additional compliance training, is essential and will be provided free of charge for all applicants

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff
• Planning menus in line with school guidelines and dietary requirements
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and minimising waste
• Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants during service
• Adhering to all food safety and health & safety regulations
