Job summary

Octavius Infrastructure Limited is seeking a Chartered Senior Technical Manager to provide technical leadership across Highways and Regional Civil Engineering projects in the UK. You will ensure safe, buildable solutions from tender through delivery, while developing teams and maintaining engineering assurance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (ICE or IStructE).
• Significant civil construction experience.
• Strong temporary works design knowledge and review experience.
• Understanding of construction engineering, buildability, sequencing and risk management.
• Experience supporting project delivery and developing practical solutions.
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop engineers at varying career stages.
• Experience leading teams (preferred).
• Experience contributing to technical governance and assurance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working for a major contractor in highways, rail or civil sectors.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across projects and bids.
• Develop, review and challenge temporary works solutions and construction methodologies.
• Act as a technical authority supporting project teams with complex challenges.
• Undertake technical reviews and independent design checks for safety and efficiency.
• Support technical risk management and engineering assurance across projects.
• Contribute to tender submissions, delivery strategies and early contractor involvement.
• Mentor and develop Temporary Works Coordinators and Design Engineers.
• Lead and support a small team to build engineering capability across the business.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients and supply chain partners to deliver successful outcomes.
• Champion innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
