Job summary

Octavius Infrastructure seeks a Chartered Senior Technical Manager (CEng) to lead temporary works across highways and regional civil projects in the UK. This senior role combines technical leadership, engineering assurance and people development, from tender through delivery, ensuring safe, buildable and commercially effective solutions.

Based in England with travel, hybrid work is offered (3 days office/site, 2 days home-based).

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (ICE or IStructE).
• Significant experience in civil engineering and construction environments.
• Strong temporary works design knowledge and ability to review/assure solutions.
• Understand construction engineering, buildability and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across projects and bids.
• Develop, review and challenge temporary works solutions and methods.
• Act as technical authority, supporting complex engineering challenges.
• Undertake technical reviews and independent design checks for safety and efficiency.
• Support risk management and engineering assurance across projects.
• Contribute to tender submissions and delivery strategies.
• Mentor and develop Temporary Works Coordinators and engineers.
• Lead and develop a small team and build engineering capability across the business.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Champion innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
