Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Chartered Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) Engineer to join the Kier Design team in Salford. The role offers flexibility in hours and a starting salary of £55,000 per year, with a focus on delivering high-quality EICA designs for water, wastewater and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will mentor others, contribute to standards, and work closely with clients and construction teams to ensure robust, safe and efficient

Qualifications

• Chartered with a recognised professional institution.
• Experienced in electrical, instrumentation, control and automation design across water or infrastructure projects.
• Capable of leading multidisciplinary design projects and providing technical assurance.
• Confident in producing and reviewing design deliverables including control philosophies, electrical load assessments, equipment specifications and technical reports.
• A strong communicator who enjoys mentoring and supporting team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production and delivery of EICA designs from feasibility through to detailed design.
• Review, check and approve design deliverables for technical robustness and compliance.
• Coordinate with MCC manufacturers, system integrators and the wider design team.
• Provide technical support to site and commissioning teams, resolving design queries during construction.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical training and development of standards and templates.
