Job summary

The Environment Agency in Yorkshire is recruiting a Chartered Engineer to provide specialist advice on asset management of reservoirs, flood embankments and civil structures. You will lead technical decisions and mentor junior engineers across the Yorkshire area.

You’ll work across projects, support incident response, and develop a resilient flood risk management programme while coordinating with national networks. Hybrid working with York/Leeds offices is available.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification and Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer status.
• Good communications skills and great customer focus.
• Health, Safety & Environmental knowledge/experience.
• Technical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice and guidance in the Yorkshire Area on asset management of reservoirs and flood defences.
• Lead teams on engineering issues and help develop Deputy Catchment Engineers.
• Technically assure asset investment programme and advise on asset refurbishment decisions.
• Coach and mentor less experienced staff to develop the next generation of engineers in Yorkshire.
