Job description

We’re looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant to join our growing team at The Lady Accountant – someone who’s not only technically strong, but also proactive, people-focused, and excited to work with ambitious small business owners.

We’re a modern accountancy firm using the latest technology to give clients real-time insights, personalised advice, and peace of mind.

Our team is friendly, approachable, and focused on helping businesses grow and become more profitable. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with clients, thrives on variety, and wants to make a real difference – not just crunch numbers.

This is a full-time, hybrid role, with time split between our Magherafelt office and working from home.

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking firm where your ideas and input will be valued.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts and corporation tax returns.
2. Producing and analysing management accounts for clients.
3. Advising on tax planning, remuneration strategies, and business structure.
4. Overseeing VAT returns, payrolls, and compliance for a portfolio of clients.
5. Working closely with clients to provide proactive, strategic support.
6. Reviewing work completed by junior team members and offering mentorship.
7. Using cloud-based tools like Xero, Hubdoc, and BrightPay to deliver a seamless service.

What we’re looking for:

1. ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
2. Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax, and VAT.
3. Practice experience with limited companies and sole traders.
4. Excellent communication skills – confident with clients and a team player.
5. Organised, proactive, and keen to contribute to a growing firm.
6. Comfortable with cloud software and open to new systems and ways of working.
