Job summary

Sense is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Shop Manager for our charity shop in Crewe. This 3-month FTC role is 15 hours a week, with a pay rate of £13.00 per hour.

You will support the Shop Manager to run the shop, deliver excellent customer service and help create a welcoming environment for customers and volunteers. The role requires flexibility to work across seven days including weekends; you will help with merchandising, stock management, cash handling and volunteering support while

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail or customer-facing environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and a positive, approachable manner.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with customers and volunteers.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility when required.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
• Willingness to support, encourage and motivate volunteers.
• Flexibility to work across seven days, including weekends.
• Confidence handling cash and following shop procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager with day-to-day operation, including opening/closing procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming shopping environment.
• Help achieve sales targets and maximise income through merchandising and stock management.
• Sort, price and display donated goods to attract customers and encourage sales.
• Create appealing window displays and maintain high presentation standards.
• Guide and motivate volunteers, assisting with recruitment, induction and training.
• Handle cash, operate the till, and follow financial procedures accurately.
• Support stock management and shop resources to ensure a safe, clean environment.
